more than naked

It’s dancing, it’s flying! In her new group piece, which is first performed at ImPulsTanz 2013, renowned Austrian choreographer Doris Uhlich examines a poetry of movement which can only be formulated by (means of) the naked body: “What kind of dynamic is hidden in the flesh, in fat, in mass, in the skin, in sweat?” Most likely, this question is best translated into dance employing the “fat dance technique”, as invented by Doris Uhlich. Within only seven years the choreographer has established herself as a protagonist of the Viennese independent scene setting new standards, and has become a much noted factor in the European dance landscape. She demonstrates that sensitivity and radicalness, political performance and aesthetic accessibility, weight and dance are not mutually exclusive concepts.
