Hinoki

Mortality, destruction, reconstruction – this existential trinity is the focus of the latest piece by choreographer, dancer and long-standing member of Ultima Vez, Máté Mészáros. Together with five fellow Hungarian dancers of just as much international experience and drummer Áron Portleki, one of the most sought-after musicians in Budapest’s experimental scene, he creates a tableau of the “travelling generation”, which also happens to be a dazzling dance extravaganza. Wild, poetic images emerge from the fusion of styles that burst with energy – from contemporary and martial arts through to folk dance – just to be abandoned by the choreography’s intense dynamics a moment later.
