"Rekonstruktionen von Sologestaltungen 1923 - 1951" Rosalia Chladek was an acclaimed protagonist of expressive dance and the only European dance expressionist who knew how to pass on her oeuvre to several generations that were to follow. The distinguished Viennese woman’s body of work encompasses 70 solos and around 100 group choreographies. Rosalia Chladek was born in Brno, Czech Republic, and passed away in 1995. She would have celebrated her 100th birthday this year. In commemoration of her birthday and to underscore the connection between the former, highly esteemed teacher of the Wiener Tanzwochen and the ImPuls Tanz dance festival, we have put together a commemorative Chladek evening. The program will include reconstructions of her solos, accounts by those who experienced her work during her lifetime and dances from 1923 to 1951, such as a “Slavic dance,” a “dance of staffs,” a “dance of turns,” as well as her pieces “Lucifer,” “Joan of Arc” and “The Chameleon Lady.”
