Last Touch First

"Last Touch First" Eerie constellations are created in a plain ambience as if in a ghost train of history. Bourgeois scenes derail into surreal images, and abysmal sketches of relationships develop a lasting, deep-acting effect. Headed by world-famous choreographer Jirí Kylián, master dance improviser Michael Schumacher and Sabine Kupferberg, icon of the legendary Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), six dancers come together for “Last Touch First”: an “artistic reunion” of former greats of the NDT. Unhurriedly, as if in slow motion, the characters of the piece are moving in a 19th century-like atmosphere, reminiscent of the grotesque plays by Russian author Anton Chekhov. This project is a homage to NDT III, the popular company for mature and experienced dancers which was regretfully disbanded in 2006 and in the same year enjoyed major success at ImPulsTanz during the Mozart Year with “Happy Birthday”. Yet it is also an exceptionally strong sign of life from the artists involved, which include the likes of Cora Bos-Kroese, Elke Schepers, David Krugel and Václav Kunes.
