"Sylphides" Sylphes are immaterial beings, products of imagination, intermediate beings that neither belong to the living nor the dead. By means of a mechanism that reduces their vital functions to a minimum, three dancers approximate this state of being and its transformations in this radical as well as visually appealing performance. Unsettling images confront us with our possible extinction and our potential rebirth. Cecilia Bengolea and François Chaignaud first met in 2004 at Mathilde Monnier’s further training project ex.e.r.ce and, as dancers, have worked with Alain Buffard, Alice Chauchat and Mark Tompkins, among others. Last year they created their highly successful duet “Paquerette”.
