A two-part evening that brings together artistic positions that have one thing in common: a “twist”, a tipping point after which, just like in real life, nothing is the same anymore. Yulia Arsen’s work revolves around the whip in all its symbolic meanings; in fractional step, Tatiana Chizhikova and Roman Malyavkin deconstruct folk dance in all its ambivalence between virtuosity, bravura and despair. Danced resistance to shame and anger and acts of survival in times of upheaval.

The Institute of Theatre is an independent non-state programme and curatorial team that organises research and professional development projects in performative and visual arts. Its purpose is promotion and critical analysis of new forms and practices in performative arts and studying theatre as а complex, progressive art form that is part of culture and society. The Institute of Theatre was launched in 2012 as an educational project of the professional theatre festival and award Golden Mask and, since 2021, continues its activity independently. The Institute of Theatre has organised festivals, around 30 laboratories and research projects about various topics and problems for public programmes and international conferences. It has also produced various dance projects and launched a laboratory of contemporary form of dance, SOTA.
