Firstly, Pieter Ampe has a decent beard. Secondly, an immense energy is bursting inside the Belgian dancer-choreographer. And thirdly, this man is heading towards a deceptive summit of transformations all by himself and without an oxygen tank. Ampe wants to go where the air that has been breathed since forever becomes unstable, where norms are permanently changing and blurring. Why? Because he assumes that this is where a new atmosphere of emancipation may be generated from emotional and sexual energies. The process is as funny as it can get extreme: momentarily a macho, then again queer, and men don’t get any younger – life is tough.
