Discordable - Bach

“Where am I going? Can I overcome the limits of rejection? Am I able to heal my inner scars?” These are the burning questions that Ismael Ivo, Brazil-born dancer, choreographer and co-founder of ImPulsTanz, examines in this new piece. He reinvigorates our belief that art is still capable of altering our perception of life. The charismatic solo dancer rebels against a world full of conflict and war that is dramatically changing our living conditions. He is joined on stage by the renowned Greek violoncellist Dimos Goudaroulis, who plays Johann Sebastian Bach’s suites for violoncello solo no. II and no. V on his precious baroque instrument – including scordatura. Ivo’s body is lowered onto the stage head first. Because everything seems to be upside down in our world where the human body, which is political by its very existence, increasingly becomes the target of aggression and manipulation. Ivo and Goudaroulis use their art to resolutely challenge this trend.
