Making things in the face of overload

Note: this research project is fully booked, thus we can not accept any more applications!

Even though dance is famously ephemeral it does spend resources to exist, needs love and money, accumulates lots of frequent flyer miles and debt, gathers cultural capital and then spends it.
Originally I thought of this research project directly in relation to the onslaught of art we experience at festivals and how to make within and with all this stimulation.

This Field Project is still that basically but I think we can all agree this is rather an extreme moment. And if we all find ourselves at ImPulsTanz this summer than it will be an extreme moment within an extreme moment.
Making is necessary for some of us, but make what in the face of overload? An overload of festival, CO2, Corona, confusion, desire and ideas, are these forces the conditions, the studio, the material, the body? –  let’s see?

We will spend this week making things everyday without distinction as to what is necessary, bad, good, indulgent, wrong headed, right minded. Dancing dancers making things no big deal, totally a big deal.
