A dancer discovers his very own Silk Road, which takes him from Spanish flamenco via modern dance to Indian Kathak. In precise, stirring solos and duets, Jose Agudo takes his audience on a journey of rituals originally performed by monks, pilgrims and merchants between China and the Iberian peninsula. After six years as Akram Khan’s assistant choreographer and his collaboration with Sylvie Guillem for her farewell tour, Agudo introduces Silk Road as the founding production of his Agudo Dance Company. Among the live musicians on stage is Austrian percussionist Bernhard Schimpelsberger.
