Time to celebrate, because Cie. Willi Dorner was founded two decades ago! The same year, Dorner’s groundbreaking piece mazy premiered at ImPulsTanz ’99. The “experimental setup for five dancers” conceived as a labyrinth has been reworked and will be presented for the first time on the stage of Akademietheater Wien. In complex solos and duets, the very dancy and physically challenging work ultimately reflects the futile struggle of the subject for an intrinsic order, based on Frederick Matthias Alexander’s influential philosophy of the body and the phenomenology of French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty.
