Closeness can mean many things: it comprises elements of kinship, togetherness, affection and likeness, and it is the key issue of great emotional longings to be intimately connected with someone or something. Closeness is something many people painfully miss. This piece gives an idea of how connectedness can create a fusion like that of Ian Kaler’s cool, concentrated stage presence with the space-expanding sounds of Jam Rostron aka Planningtorock in combination with the light designs by Imogen Heath. With great devotion the artists celebrate the experience of their successful collaboration over many years in the scope of Kaler’s o.T. series in this culminant performance: a jam session of improvisational openness and rigorous structure, in which Kaler’s magical movement compositions dance with Rostron’s melodic electronics and powerful beats.
