Public Moves 2023

The beloved free outdoor dance classes are back – at five locations in Vienna. On the dance floors under the open sky, 109 teachers share their knowledge in 118 classes ranging from yoga to Bollywood Dance to Hip Hop. Among them are Doris Uhlich, Silke Grabinger, Archie Burnett, Valentina Schisa, Elisabetta Violante, Marta Coronado and William Briscoe. All ages and levels are welcome! Freestyle Dance Contest 2023: Straight into the last 16

You now have the chance to advance directly to the round of sixteen of the ImPulsTanz freestyle dance contest on 29 July via TikTok. Simply upload a video of maximum 60 seconds in which you show your best moves, then tag @impulstanz and write #impulstanzcontest23 in the caption. As usual: all styles, all levels and all ages are welcome. Join now!

Take advantage of the Early Bird bonus!

From July 6 to August 6 2023, the 40^th edition of ImPulsTanz promises another eventful summer. This year with a nostalgic change of location: after 23 years, the workshops will return to Schmelz due to construction work at Arsenal. From now on, all workshops and research projects can be booked and until 31 May you pay 10 euros less for the first booked workshop with the Early Bird bonus!

More than 130 internationally renowned teachers and choreographers share their knowledge in over 210 workshops and research projects in the spacious studios at Schmelz. Courses ranging from Afro-Fusion and Butoh to HipHop and club styles to repertory and contemporary dance are open to beginners, advanced dancers and professionals.

PROGRAMME SEGMENTS

Workshops

The 200 workshops at Schmelz are aimed at beginners and professionals alike, comprising either one training unit daily from Monday to Friday or two on Saturdays and Sundays.

Shake the Break

The workshops at Dschungel Wien invite children and teenagers from 3.5 to 18 years to dance and act.

Research Projects

The research and process-oriented projects are aimed specifically at professional dancers and artists. A maximum of 20 participants will be selected by the project management.

Open Doors

Most of the workshops at Schmelz are open for visitors to watch. Events, showings and jams can also be attended free of charge.

Public Moves

The dance classes are held daily, outdoors and free of charge. All levels and ages welcome!

Country Retreats

Time to dance and live together: Between August and October, ImPulsTanz invites you together with Artis Umbria to unique workshops in Italy.

Pro Scene

ImPulsTanz offers special education and training programmes to both professionals and beginners, as well as auditions. Symposia and residencies provide additional opportunities to exchange ideas.
