The future arrives without images that we have to fill in. How can one engage in the future, what is not yet, without making it a continuation of what is already and past? How is the responsibility of art in respect of the making of the future, in particular a future on which we refuse to project knowledge? Can dance function as dynamics of the not yet of which we must know nothing? We don’t just think so, we know and those are the dances we will dance in this workshop. However we don’t know what they are, but not improvised.
Prefiguration is a set of strategic operations through which we can foresee the arrival of the future without violating or dismissing what is and what we have. It’s an avant-garde without heroes, a revolutionary gesture that doesn’t start by cherishing its collateral damage. Instead it is rearrangement through practice, through care and entanglement, and through the acknowledgement of also the insignificant, over-lookable, marginal and minor, yet and because of that, it comes with a dark humour.
It is also a workshop in how to make a piece and then we dance.
