Week 2, 18.7.–22.7.

To “have skin in the game” means to have direct involvement in and risk of an outcome. For disabled artists, this phrase bears on both the outcome of our lives and choices, as much as it does on what we put forward in the world with our artistic work. We can never extricate who we are from what we make. This workshop is for self-identified disabled artists who are in the process of establishing a performance practice, or already have one, to deepen our connection to our bodyminds, our crafts and forms, and to share these with each other. The expectation is that participants arrive with their own lines of inquiry into their work and their relationship to the audience (a.k.a. the world), and some performance vocabulary that is unique to their access needs and desires for disabled world-making. We will spend some time in brief discussion on a selection of international disabled artists, as well as various aspects of their work as a way to establish concepts and spark ideas. At the end of the week, we will have brief showings of what participants have developed and/or discovered.

All All Abilities workshops are offered on a pay what it’s worth to you-principle – you pay what you can or consider to be fair. Please contact the Workshop Office via email if you would like to book this workshop.
