State Shifting

State shifting This time will be devoted to identifying and practicing different (personal) states of concentration, the dance that they evoke and the possibilities of shifting through them to create improvisation scores and experiences. We will test out deep internal concentration, distraction, task oriented activity , memory reconstitution, repetetive trance inducing, sensory and game playing among others. We will work on the coexisting of different states, either within the individual or with the group to generate potentially suprising dances. This workshop will also be an opportunity to observe the relationship of different practices to the qualities of experience they nurture.
