"Giszelle" "Giszelle" quotes the ballet, but also monkeys’ steps, the martial arts, Michael Jackson and club dancing. Le Roy, a molecular biologist by training, who then decided to be a dancer and choreographer instead, has become one of Europe’s most renowned experts on dance movement and images. In "Giszelle" he combines cinematographic and dance techniques to dissect some of the trite body clichés spread in and by our media culture. "Self-Unfinished" "Self-Unfinished", the work that introduced Xavier Le Roy to a wider audience, focusses on the transformation of the body.
