For him, Japanese butoh dance is “a rebellion against Western dance culture and a quest for a new choreographic language”. Choy Ka Fai is well-known in Vienna since his Soft Machine project in Weltmuseum at ImPulsTanz 2015. Now he evokes the spirit of the anarchist inventor of butoh, Tatsumi Hijikata, who died in 1986.
