One thing is certain: what unfolds here is the possibility of an expedition into the realm of love. “We try to reveal as much of ourselves to the spectators as we do to someone we love.”The audience is divided into two groups. One follows Kaori Ito, the other Théo Touvet, most recently celebrated as Puck in Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Vienna State Opera. They both share their experiences with each other and with other lovers with their listeners, before coming together on stage to perform a dance that emerges from a logbook of their sexual adventures and their passion for each other. This document contains everything that makes up an ardent relationship: past histories, beautiful words that are found for each other, but also empty promises and extracts from letters ending a relationship. Kaori Ito fascinated the ImPulsTanz audience once before, performing the duet I dance because I don’t trust words with her father at Akademietheater five years ago. This piece is about sharing the experience of intimacy to its fullest extent, thereby increasing it.
